Rick Osborn
Deacon

Rick Osborn was born and raised in the Northern Virginia area, living in Arlington and Springfield.  Rick graduated from Lake Braddock High School in 1978 and then attended Steven’s Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ.  Rick graduated from Steven’s in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in computer science and started work for IBM Federal Systems a week after graduating.  Rick has worked with the same company through transitions/sales from IBM to Loral in 1994 and from Loral to Lockheed Martin in 1996.  Rick has worked as a software engineer and system administrator and now works as a security professional with information system security on government contracts.

Rick was raised in the Roman Catholic traditions and was active through high school.  During college, through contacts with young adult groups, Rick was introduced to various Bible studies.  After college, in a small group study, the leader of the group shared the gospel with Rick.  A week later (September, 1983) at a Glad concert, Rick asked Jesus to be his Lord and Savior.  Following this, Rick remained at the Catholic church for a time, looking for growth in Christ through the Cursio and Charismatic prayer movements, but was not completely satisfied.  When some friends from the young adult group began attending Christian Assembly, Rick visited as well.  He found what he was looking for there in terms of growth in Christ.  Rick became a member of the church in September of 1985 and has remained there.  Rick was active in the singles ministry, becoming the leader for a short time.  Rick also took a leave of absence from work to study the Bible for nine months with the Youth With A Mission (YWAM) School of Biblical Studies in 1987 and 1988.  Later, Rick assisted with the Men’s ministry.  Rick was asked to serve as a deacon in 1993 and has been serving ever since, being the head deacon since May 2004.  Rick also currently leads a home group in his home in Vienna, VA.
